Support
Daylight is made by one person. If something isn't working, or the app could be kinder to you, write and say so — it genuinely gets read.

The fastest way to get help
Open Daylight, go to Settings → Help & Feedback. That starts an email with your app version, device and iOS version already attached, which usually turns a week of back-and-forth into a single reply. Please keep those details in the message.
If you're reporting a bug, it helps enormously to include: what you tapped, what you expected, what happened instead, and a screenshot or screen recording if you can catch it.
Getting started
Why does Daylight ask for location and calendar access?
Two features need them, and nothing else does:
- Location (while using the app) — to show the weather where you actually are. Daylight sends only your coordinates to a weather service and gets today's forecast back.
- Calendar — to show your events on the Today screen and the Events timeline, and to let you create, edit and delete them without leaving the app.
Both are asked for during the welcome flow so nothing ambushes you later. You can change your mind any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security, or under Daylight's own entry in Settings.
Do I need to make an account?
No. There's no sign-up, no password and no server of ours. Daylight keeps your days on your device and syncs them through your own iCloud account.
Can I see the welcome tips again?
Yes — Settings → App tips and permissions replays the whole welcome flow, including the three tips and the permission checks. Nothing is reset by doing it.
How do I set the hours my day runs between?
Settings → Your Daylight has Start of day and End of day. Those two set the window the Events timeline draws, so if you're up at 5am or working till midnight, the timeline follows you. Temperature units live in the same card.
Everyday use
Where did yesterday's unfinished to-dos go?
They rolled over. Anything you didn't finish appears on Today so it doesn't get lost, and the original day is remembered underneath. If you'd rather they stayed put, turn off Roll over unfinished tasks in Settings → Tasks & Notes.
Either way, nothing is deleted — every task stays in the Tasks tab on the day it belongs to.
I deleted something by accident.
Shake your phone. Daylight puts up an undo prompt for the last thing you deleted, and a restored note comes back with its formatting and bookmark intact.
How do I add a lot of to-dos at once?
Press and hold the + button on the Tasks tab. It catches fire as it charges, then opens Rapid Fire — type a to-do, hit return, keep going without the field ever closing.
Rapid Fire is a Premium feature.
Can I choose which calendars appear?
Yes — Settings → Calendars lists every calendar on your device with a switch for each. Turn off the shared family calendar or the subscribed holidays feed and Daylight stops showing them everywhere, including in the widget.
How do I make a to-do repeat?
Press and hold a to-do and choose the repeat option. You can repeat it daily, weekly on chosen days, or monthly on chosen dates, with an optional end date. Deleting one gives you the choice of that single occurrence or the whole series.
Repeating to-dos are a Premium feature.
Why doesn't my note have a title?
By default the first line of a note becomes its title, so notes title themselves as you write. If you'd rather every line was plain body text, turn off First line of note is the title in Settings → Tasks & Notes.
Why don't I get any notifications?
Because Daylight doesn't send any, on purpose. No reminders, no badges, no streaks to keep alive. You shape your day in the morning and check back when you want to — the app never interrupts you to ask for attention.
If you want Daylight in front of you during the day, add a widget instead. It sits there quietly and doesn't buzz.
Premium & billing
What does Premium include?
- Unlimited to-dos and notes per day (free is capped at 3 and 1)
- Repeating to-dos
- Bookmarking notes
- Rearranging the cards on Today
- Eight affirmation themes, plus writing your own
- Rapid-fire task entry
It comes as $3.99 monthly, $29 yearly, or $59 once for lifetime. Buy it on the upgrade screen inside the app.
I already paid, but the app says I'm on Free.
Try these in order:
- Open Settings in Daylight and tap Restore Purchases on the Premium card.
- Check that your iPhone is signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with (iOS Settings → your name → Media & Purchases).
- Make sure you're online — a restore needs to reach the App Store.
If it still won't unlock, email me with the Apple receipt (Apple sends one by email, or you can find it at reportaproblem.apple.com) and I'll sort it out.
Does Premium work on my iPad and other devices?
Yes, but it is not currently fully optimized for iPad. There are plans for this eventually. If you are a Premium member, tap Restore Purchases if a new device doesn't pick it up straight away.
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by Daylight. Open your Apple subscriptions, or go to iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. If you have an active subscription, Daylight's Settings screen also has a Manage Subscription button that takes you straight there.
Cancel at least 24 hours before your period ends to avoid the next renewal. You keep Premium until the period you've paid for runs out.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, since Apple takes the payment. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account you purchased on. I can't issue refunds directly, but if something in the app is broken, tell me and I'll fix it.
Does Lifetime include future updates?
Yes. Lifetime is a one-time purchase that unlocks every premium feature, including the ones that haven't been built yet.
Syncing & your data
How does syncing work?
Through your own iCloud account. Your days, to-dos, notes and affirmations live in your private iCloud database, and your settings — name, units, day hours, affirmation setup, card order — ride along in iCloud's key-value store. Nothing passes through a server belonging to Daylight, because there isn't one.
How do I delete everything?
Delete the app from your iPhone — that removes everything stored on the device. To clear what's in iCloud as well, go to iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, find Daylight, and delete its data.
There's nothing else to delete anywhere, because your days were never anywhere else. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
What is the privacy policy?
Widgets & troubleshooting
How do I add the widgets?
Touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the icons jiggle, tap Edit → Add Widget, and search for Daylight. There are four: today's to-dos, today's events, your affirmation, and a Lock Screen button that opens straight into the app.
For the Lock Screen one, touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customise, then the area under the clock.
My widget is showing yesterday.
Widgets refresh when you leave the app, and iOS decides how often beyond that. Opening Daylight and going back to the Home Screen nudges it. If it stays stale, remove the widget and add it again.
The weather isn't loading.
- Check location access: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Daylight, set to While Using the App.
- Check you have a connection — the forecast is fetched fresh.
- Tap the refresh button in the weather card to get new data.
My events aren't showing up.
- Check calendar access: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars → Daylight, set to Full Access.
- Check the calendar itself is switched on in Settings → Calendars inside Daylight.
- Confirm the event falls inside your start and end of day, or it'll sit outside the timeline window.
Something else is wrong.
Send it to me. Settings → Help & Feedback inside the app is the best route because it attaches the details I need, but a plain email to george@usedaylight.app works just as well.
One more thing
Feature requests are welcome.
Daylight is small on purpose, but it isn't finished. If there's something you keep reaching for and it isn't there, say so.
